Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
The short version
- The apps and websites you choose to limit stay on your iPhone. Apple’s Screen Time gives us only opaque tokens we can’t read.
- Our server keeps what it needs to run your plan and receipts: your settings, your purchases, and summary totals such as minutes per day.
- We never see your card details. Apple handles every payment.
- We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
- You can delete your account and its data from the app at any time.
1. What stays on your iPhone
ScreenWorth uses Apple’s Screen Time frameworks. The apps, categories and websites you pick, your detailed activity in them, and the shields and timers that enforce your limits are handled on your device. When you pick apps, Apple gives the app opaque tokens. Those tokens never leave your phone, and we can’t turn them back into app names.
2. What we collect
Account. A random account ID created when you first open the app, and your device’s time zone so your day resets at your local midnight. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we store the identifier Apple provides for our app. We don’t store your name or email address.
Plan settings. The plan or plans you run, your friction level, your daily spend limit, and whether you took or skipped the baseline week.
Purchases. For each unlock or subscription, the details Apple sends us: transaction ID, product, price and currency, purchase date, and refund status. Your answer to “Worth it?” after an unlock is stored with it.
Activity summaries the app sends. Moments such as a limit being reached, walking away, unlocking, or protection being paused or turned back on, with the date and time. Total screen-time minutes per day during your baseline week and per week afterward. When you unlock or reach a limit, the name of the app you were in (for example, “Instagram”), so your receipts and insights can show where your spending goes.
Challenges. The display name you choose and the groups you join. Members of a challenge see each other’s display names, days on track and walk-aways, never dollar amounts.
Technical data. Our hosting provider records standard request information, such as IP address and time, to run and secure the service.
3. How we use it
- To run ScreenWorth: price each unlock, apply your spend limit, reset at midnight, and build your receipts and insights.
- To provide Plus and keep your subscription status current.
- To handle refunds and answer Apple’s questions about them (see section 4).
- To learn what helps. We may test product variations, such as making unlocks free for some people for a limited time, and compare results in aggregate.
- To keep the service secure and meet legal obligations.
We don’t sell your personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to show you ads.
4. Who we share it with
Apple processes your payments, subscriptions and Sign in with Apple. If you request a refund, Apple may ask us how much of a purchase was used. We answer only if you’ve turned on that permission in the app.
Service providers host our service and database on our behalf: Vercel (hosting) and Neon (database), both in the United States. They may use the data only to provide their services to us.
Legal and business reasons. If the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, under this policy.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account in the app, we delete your account and everything linked to it from our database right away. Copies in backups are removed within 30 days. Apple keeps its own purchase records under Apple’s policies.
6. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and its data from the app’s settings.
- Turn off ScreenWorth’s Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings.
- Turn the refund-information permission on or off in the app.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, at hello@screenworth.co. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU/UK), you may have further rights, and we won’t treat you differently for using them.
7. Children
ScreenWorth is built for adults managing their own phone use. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has used ScreenWorth, contact us and we’ll delete the account.
8. Security and location
Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored with our providers in the United States. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect and who can access it.
9. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and tell you in the app before material changes take effect. Questions? Email hello@screenworth.co.
